Last month, my husband’s cousin needed some family portraits done and I offered to drive down to Oregon to meet up and capture their family for them. For my boys, it was a fun weekend road trip, a visit to the real Pacific coast, and bonus! Playtime with their cousins. For me, it was a chance to help family come closer to fulfilling their dream of returning to Ethiopia and their ministry. Their journey began with a dream to expand their family through adoption, and they added their sweet daughter to swell their family up to five. Currently, they are setting their hearts and prayers towards working their way back to Ethiopia. Read more about their ministry journey, in their own words, here in their newsletter: Gerards February 2013. If you are moved by their story, their newsletter also provides information on how to donate to their cause, or the information is also at the bottom of this post! Now, onto their beautiful pictures!

Meet the lovely Gerards family!

Everyone was such a trooper to pose outside in the freezing cold for these family portraits.

{Snips and snails and sweet stripey suckers} Seattle Area Childrens Photographer

Sometimes I love just taking the boys out and doing our own photoshoot. Of course, having a giant lollipop bribe, er, “prop”, just sweetened the deal for the kids. You know what else I love? That while I love matchy shirts and buy them for my kids, my boys actually love to dress up like […]

That while I love matchy shirts and buy them for my kids, my boys actually love to dress up like each other. I love these kids!

What? I’m not suppose to eat the prop, mom?

MMmmmmmMmmmmm how many licks does it take to get a little boy hypered up?

Show mommy the lollipop! heh

My littlest one was more interested in doing anything but show me his lollipop

I love how little brother is like, mom, can I go back to eating my lolly now?

He posed himself. Honest.

Those eyes kill me. I am going to be in trouble when he hits the teenage years.

My boys, love these kids.

We’re very lucky that we live near the gorgeous city of Seattle. Not only do we get to do cool things like see Santa’s Space Rocket in the Space Needle, but just walking around we can watch the ferries cross Elliott Bay, see sea lions, and even just run around, and dance like no one is watching. Well, at least, that is what I imagine goes through my boys’ minds whenever we take them downtown shopping. 🙂

What’s a visit to Seattle without visiting Pike Place market?

Here are the boys in the little park right across from the Market. You can see my youngest is jumping in glee

You thought I was joking about the dancing like no one was watching, didn’t you?

We found this cool mosaic, where they continued their mad improv dancing.

Cheeky smiles all around!

This is on the pedestrian bridge above 1st avenue. My kids love to jump.

And this is what a sibling shot looks like at my house – yes, that is younger brother photobombing older brother’s jump shot

Overall, I think they had a good time and it was a fun memory. And at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.

Baby W was a dream baby. He pretty much slept and let me pose him any which way for the entire session. The family was so laid back and go with the flow, even when we had the inevitable accidents which happen when you hold a naked newborn. I also captured one of my favorite sibling poses ever in this session, with Baby W. and big brother. Thank you for letting me into your home and capturing these sweet moments with Baby W!

Meet Baby W.

He was a looooooooooong baby. So adorable and squishy though.

Contemplative baby.

These cute hats were knitted by Baby W’s aunt.

Adorable frog baby!

The sweet daisies were placed there by big brother

Big brother and Baby W.

He slept through pretty much the entire session and let me pose him

I’m very behind on my blog posting! This sweet family was actually shot back in September 2010. Baby A was adorable and so alert for a newborn. I have to admit, all the baby girl newborn sessions end up with very alert and sweet babies. Baby boy newborns tend to be sleepier. I guess girls […]

I have to admit, all the baby girl newborn sessions end up with very alert and sweet babies. Baby boy newborns tend to be sleepier. I guess girls really do want to have fun!

Meet Baby A.

Hello, pleased to meet you sweetness! Look at that eye contact for a newborn, so alert!

Taking a moment with dad

I love how little she looks in dad’s hands here.

I did manage to capture some sleeping shots as well.

Hello Miss A!

Big brother snuck in for a shot or two as well.

So much cuteness in one family.

Once outside she did cooperate to fall asleep

Mom and Baby A

The entire family. Thank you for letting me capture this moment for you!

I had the pleasure of photographing Baby S. this weekend. I had photographed her brother when he was about five months old, so it was nice to come back and visit the family. Big brother is now a big boy of three, and was a very good helper during little sister’s photoshoot. Thank you for allowing me to come capture Baby S and your entire sweet family! Enjoy your sneak peek.

Meet Baby S. Don’t let this picture fool you, we spent a big part of the day trying to get her to sleep.

Look at Miss Sweetness!

you’re never too young for diamonds

Mom told me that she came out with her hands wrapped around her ears, so we recreated that pose here. Heh!

having a mom and daughter chat

Dad was pretty awesome in being able to lull Baby S to sleep

Sweet sibling kisses

Big smiles from big brother

This picture doesn’t show it, but it was very windy and COLD this day. The family trooped out twice to have a family picture in the wind and cold, you can’t even tell, don’t they look happy?

I’m a out loud talker. If I’m in the grocery store, I’m the person talking about what’s on my list, and where can I find the red wine vinegar. My husband makes fun of me for doing this, but even he concedes that when you ask for something, you have a better chance of someone […]

I’m a out loud talker. If I’m in the grocery store, I’m the person talking about what’s on my list, and where can I find the red wine vinegar. My husband makes fun of me for doing this, but even he concedes that when you ask for something, you have a better chance of someone answering your question than if you never ask aloud. The age old adage, “ask and you shall receive”. Along that vein, a friend of mine was posting on a social media site that all her parents wanted for Christmas was a picture of both her girls together in the dresses they received from grandma. There were several problems with getting the picture as a) my friend works out of the house, b) the girls are both under the age of three and dragging them to the mall seemed like a chore and c) it was about a week before Christmas. I offered to come over to her home and take pictures of her girls for her. I’m way behind in my blogging, since these pictures were taken last month, but it was a win-win situation for everyone. Thank you for letting me photograph your adorable daughters!

Meet Older Sis. She was a hoot to capture on camera, and was so fun!

Ok, sit primly in this chair? I can do that for you, Ms. Photographer.

Little Sister was a tougher nut to crack to get to smile at me.

Look at those eyes! So soulful.

Older Sis was a dream, she pretty much did anything I asked. I love her expression here! It came out a lot.

But oh so adorable.

I finally coaxed a real smile from Little Sister

Oh look, I got them both into the same frame! Aren’t those dresses just precious?

And a last picture of a pretty pretty pink princess.

{Oh So Silly} Seattle Area Child Lifestyle Photographer

January 30th, 2012

So picture this scene. I’ve got the boys fed. Everyone’s gone potty. They aren’t fighting with each other. No lego robot wars are going on, or any stealth ninja Jedi swordfights. They even agree to sit on my little photography setup next to each other and I think, oh goodie! I’m finally going to get […]

They even agree to sit on my little photography setup next to each other and I think, oh goodie! I’m finally going to get a nice shot of the boys together!

Then I snap the picture and get this. Ah well. I can always try another day. As much as I love the posed shots, I think the silly shots show off their personality much better.

Baby E., his three year old brother, and his parents came to visit me today for his newborn shoot. Baby E is a fireball who came four weeks early, so at the shoot today he was about the size of a full term newborn, about seven pounds. I have to admit, I have a real soft spot in my heart taking pictures of brothers together, and I was happy that Big Brother O. was amicable to posing with Baby Brother E for me and the camera. Even if I did have to break out the sweethart candy bribes. Big welcome to Baby E and congratulations on the new addition to the family!

Meet Baby E. I love shots like this, because it shows you just how tiny they are at this moment, and they’re never going to be this tiny again. Here he is, cradled by daddy.

Giddy up, little cowboy

Such sweetness! I love just how peaceful he looks here.

Don’t let all the sleeping poses fool you, he was a tough cookie to get to stay asleep. But when he was asleep, you could just nom on his little nose.

This is my favorite brother pose. Big brother is all, what IS this in my lap? Baby E is all, hey, I’m cool, just chillin’ in my blanket which matches my eyes.

Big Brother wasn’t so sure about all this picture taking.

They were much happier outside, I even got a little smile!

The new family of four!
