Every year, we take a trip up to Skagit Valley to visit the tulips. You can check out our trips in 2010 and 2012 and see how much the boys changed (and how little their love of mud puddles have not changed
This year the weather has been perfect, so I bundled the boys up and we went for a day trip. I love going to the tulips because it reminds me of when I was pregnant with my oldest, and waiting, and watching the flowers bloom as I waited for my little guy to appear. Plus, they are just beautiful, and we have FIELDS and FIELDS of them here in Washington. If you haven’t made the trip to visit the festival, it runs through the entire month of April (depending on bloom), and it’s awesome!
No, this isn’t Holland. It’s Mt. Vernon, WA, U.S.A.
Welcome to Tulip Town! My oldest had to jump in order to be tall enough to be in the picture on the left.
I spy with my little eye, a hidden preschooler.
We visit the tulip festival every year, since it occurs around my oldest’s birthday. Look at how much he has grown! :sniff:
Stand by the tulips and pose, boys. This is the best that I could get.
Mainly, they were way more interested in the mud, and mud puddles, than the tulip flowers.
I wonder what made these kid size boot prints…
If only there was some clue to tell me.
Splish splash, some one took a mud bath.
If you are local and haven’t been up here, go! It’s so beautiful, and the festival runs the entire month of April.
Pretty, pretty tulips!
Up close and personal with a tulip.
Sometimes, you just gotta let them lecture you, and try not to laugh at the expressions on their sweet faces.
Happy, happy kiddo.
I let my oldest have my camera, and he took this shot! Proud mama right here, such a nice capture!
My youngest thought he was so sneaky making faces while we were taking pictures.
My favorite picture all day. I usually only get serious looks from him, I was so glad to be able to capture a real smile for once.
If you look closely, my oldest is holding up his little brother in order to make him tall enough to fit in the face hole for the picture. Awww……
They even had face painting inside the barn!
At the end of the day though, it was mostly two little boys doing this.
And this.

{Snips and snails and sweet stripey suckers} Seattle Area Childrens PhotographerMarch 4th, 2012Sometimes I love just taking the boys out and doing our own photoshoot. Of course, having a giant lollipop bribe, er, “prop”, just sweetened the deal for the kids. You know what else I love? That while I love matchy shirts and buy them for my kids, my boys actually love to dress up like [...] |
Sometimes I love just taking the boys out and doing our own photoshoot. Of course, having a giant lollipop bribe, er, “prop”, just sweetened the deal for the kids. You know what else I love? That while I love matchy shirts and buy them for my kids, my boys actually love to dress up like each other. I love these kids!
What? I’m not suppose to eat the prop, mom?

MMmmmmmMmmmmm how many licks does it take to get a little boy hypered up?

Show mommy the lollipop! heh

My littlest one was more interested in doing anything but show me his lollipop

I love how little brother is like, mom, can I go back to eating my lolly now?

He posed himself. Honest.

Those eyes kill me. I am going to be in trouble when he hits the teenage years.

My boys, love these kids.

We’re very lucky that we live near the gorgeous city of Seattle. Not only do we get to do cool things like see Santa’s Space Rocket in the Space Needle, but just walking around we can watch the ferries cross Elliott Bay, see sea lions, and even just run around, and dance like no one is watching. Well, at least, that is what I imagine goes through my boys’ minds whenever we take them downtown shopping.
What’s a visit to Seattle without visiting Pike Place market?

Here are the boys in the little park right across from the Market. You can see my youngest is jumping in glee

You thought I was joking about the dancing like no one was watching, didn’t you?

We found this cool mosaic, where they continued their mad improv dancing.

Cheeky smiles all around!

This is on the pedestrian bridge above 1st avenue. My kids love to jump.

And this is what a sibling shot looks like at my house – yes, that is younger brother photobombing older brother’s jump shot

Overall, I think they had a good time and it was a fun memory. And at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters.

Baby W was a dream baby. He pretty much slept and let me pose him any which way for the entire session. The family was so laid back and go with the flow, even when we had the inevitable accidents which happen when you hold a naked newborn. I also captured one of my favorite sibling poses ever in this session, with Baby W. and big brother. Thank you for letting me into your home and capturing these sweet moments with Baby W!
Meet Baby W.

He was a looooooooooong baby. So adorable and squishy though.

Contemplative baby.

These cute hats were knitted by Baby W’s aunt.

Adorable frog baby!

The sweet daisies were placed there by big brother

Big brother and Baby W.

He slept through pretty much the entire session and let me pose him

A sweet storyboard with dad and Baby W

The entire family!

{Two Sisters} Seattle Area Child PhotographerJanuary 31st, 2012I’m a out loud talker. I’m a out loud talker. If I’m in the grocery store, I’m the person talking about what’s on my list, and where can I find the red wine vinegar. My husband makes fun of me for doing this, but even he concedes that when you ask for something, you have a better chance of someone answering your question than if you never ask aloud. The age old adage, “ask and you shall receive”. Along that vein, a friend of mine was posting on a social media site that all her parents wanted for Christmas was a picture of both her girls together in the dresses they received from grandma. There were several problems with getting the picture as a) my friend works out of the house, b) the girls are both under the age of three and dragging them to the mall seemed like a chore and c) it was about a week before Christmas. I offered to come over to her home and take pictures of her girls for her. I’m way behind in my blogging, since these pictures were taken last month, but it was a win-win situation for everyone. Thank you for letting me photograph your adorable daughters!
Meet Older Sis. She was a hoot to capture on camera, and was so fun!

Ok, sit primly in this chair? I can do that for you, Ms. Photographer.

Little Sister was a tougher nut to crack to get to smile at me.

Look at those eyes! So soulful.

Older Sis was a dream, she pretty much did anything I asked. I love her expression here! It came out a lot.

But oh so adorable.

I finally coaxed a real smile from Little Sister

Oh look, I got them both into the same frame! Aren’t those dresses just precious?

And a last picture of a pretty pretty pink princess.

{Oh So Silly} Seattle Area Child Lifestyle PhotographerJanuary 30th, 2012So picture this scene. I’ve got the boys fed. Everyone’s gone potty. They aren’t fighting with each other. No lego robot wars are going on, or any stealth ninja Jedi swordfights. They even agree to sit on my little photography setup next to each other and I think, oh goodie! I’m finally going to get [...] |

Then I snap the picture and get this. Ah well. I can always try another day. As much as I love the posed shots, I think the silly shots show off their personality much better.
