I had the great fortune to try out Excy, which stands for exercise cycle. It is small (less than 10 lbs!), folds up compact, flat, and portable, and you can take it and use it anywhere. In full disclosure, I am friends with the co-founder, Michele Mehl, and took the product photos below. But I do own an Excy of my own, and believe in the exercise machine. Being a busy mom myself, I know how difficult it is to find time in my schedule to fit in exercise. I’m often at school, at photo shoots, at taekwondo or soccer practices, meets, or games. Plus, I live in a small house, and space is a premium. Excy is sincerely the best exercise equipment for my busy lifestyle, hands down. I use it on my arms and legs, but mostly legs. It’s easy to set up, and I can use it laying down on the floor, or sitting up on a chair or couch. Did I mention that I live in a small house? Since the Excy folds up flat, it is SO COMPACT it takes up a minimum amount of space in my home. Also, since it is compact, it takes up little space in my (small) car, along with the kids, soccer gear, camping chairs to watch the soccer practices, and taekwondo gear that I cart around as well. It’s just a brilliant invention, and I’m happy to share it with you.

Excy excellence points:

  • portable and compact
  • can use on arms or legs
  • do cardio or strength training
  • less than 10 lbs
  • easy to use for anyone!

For a limited time, blog readers can get a 20% discount on Excy! Just use discount code, Alexrocks. Please, go check it out, and enjoy exercising for once!

Meet Michele Mehl, co-founder of ExCy, and all around exciting human being.

My favorite subjects to photograph are hands down, kids. Especially siblings, in unguarded moments when they aren’t cheesing for the camera. ┬áThis brother and sister set was such fun to photograph, as the little brother built a bow from a stick and some string his mom scrounged up for him. ┬áSeeing them work together to create something, and the looks of intensity from both of them, and then the joy in playing with his new creation, was really exciting for me to capture. Thank you, P. family for coming out and letting me into this ┬ámoment of your life! Enjoy the pictures.

Sweet older sister and little brother.

Being a mom of boys, it’s always fun for me to photography a family of girls. This family has three girls, all with three different personalities. Not only were there three girls, but the two youngest are twins. The mother wanted some sibling shots, but I admit, my favorite thing was getting the girls one on one and letting their indivuality shine through to the camera. We had a quick mini-session outdoors at a local park, they brought their loveys, and overall had a wonderful time. Thanks for hanging out with me, W. family!

Twin A had no problems posing for my camera. I call this one, Old Hollywood Glamour Stare. Look at those eyes!

Twin B was trying to convince me she had never heard of any superheroes. Here she is, totally pulling my leg (I was believing her until we got to Batman. Everyone’s heard of Batman!)

The younger twins, showing off their distinctive styles and smiles for me.

All three sisters, such sweeties!

I got one more chance to get all three of them together before the session was up.

No session is complete without at least one of mom in the picture, too!

{Baby R. 10 days new} Eastside Area Newborn Photographer

Have you heard of the Buy Nothing project? They are community based groups (usually on Facebook) where, instead of throwing away or trashing stuff you don’t need, you donate it, or give it away to your local community. My local Buy Nothing community is so much more than that, though. It’s a community of people who give to those in need, who lead a helping hand, who create an atmosphere and environment where random acts of kindness and good deeds are done every day. It’s pretty special, I have to say, to be both on the receiving and giving end of the Buy Nothing community. It was within this community that I met this special family, who welcomed their new baby boy into their lives, Baby R. They excited came over to capture his first few days, complete with adorable props and some family mementos. I enjoyed meeting mom, dad, and Baby R., and hope that they enjoy the lovely photos!

Meet Baby R. His mom brought over the cute little crowns as props, aren’t they precious?

Beautiful momma and beautiful baby.

This sock monkey was handmade by great-grandma. I love it when families bring special toys like this.

We got some awake shots of him as well, here he is on a blanket also made by great-grandma.

Another cute crown. And look at those lips! So squishy!

Being held by dad, one of my favorite poses.

Welcome to the world, Baby R.! You are blessed and loved.
